Drug Strategy 2010 Reducing demand, restricting supply, building recovery: supporting people to live a drug-free life

Written by  Works for Freedom (30/11/99)

The first drug strategy by the Coalition Government, it purports to offer 'a fundamentally different approach to preventing drug use' and 'has recovery at its heart'. It promises to provide 'a more holistic approach, by addressing other issues in addition to treatment to support people dependent on drugs or alcohol, such as offending, employment and housing'. It also 'puts more responsibility on individuals to seek help and overcome dependency' whilst giving communities more 'power and accountability'. It aims to 'reduce demand' and 'crack down' on supply.
